The Project

An upgrade of 3km runway at East Midlands Airport while working around its unique flight programme. Operating 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, the airport needed a solution that had minimal impact on users.

What we did

A compound the size of 10 football pitches ensured that preparation works and asphalt manufacture could be accommodated close to the site. Three 20m tall high output asphalt batching plants ensured that the manufacture of asphalt kept pace with the requirement. The project won the Project of the Year category of the 2017 Construction News Awards.

Acting as a trusted testing partner, TD Construction Testing Ltd delivered site testing services (Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing) to support quality assurance and informed decision-making on site. We put our clients at the heart of everything we do, with such as complex site we had to ensure attention to detail at every stage.
